Prescan/scan not aligned with full image

I'm using 5.5 .18 with a Nikon 4000 and Photoshop 6.0.1 and Windows 2000. I'm not sure how or why but all of a sudden the image is not fully aligned. It seems that the slide is inserted too far into the MA-20 carrier. When I push the eject buttom a bit and prescan again, the alignment is OK. I understand how the negative filmstrip alighment works but I can't find an equivalent solution for slides.

Any ideas?

Dear Mel,
that MA20 is a fully mechanical holder, we never had this kind of problems you described.
Is it possible that your slide frame has uncommon dimension?
Is your MA20 properly inserted?
