pre-scan darker than scanned image

Postby martinc » Fri Aug 15, 2003 4:01 pm

Hi sorry I looked through this forum and plenty of other sites and then also looked at your manual (if all else fails read the manual) but couldnt find a straight forward answer. I am sure I'm idiot who hasnt understood.

I have been able to do all the scanning manipulation etc in the pre-scan except that the image after the scan is a lot lighter than what I had intended with the pre-scan.

I've read all about gamma of the monitor, it is 2.2 and I have adjusted it correctly according to multiple different sites against their various test cards, so no problems there.

Im using a Nikon LS1000 and using Silverfast Version 4.2.5r04 along with Paint shop Pro 7.04. I know it is a very old version I inherited the scanner and software and Im know getting into this digital stuff. I suspect it is just a question of settings in SF and also PSP

The problem is the colormanagment. The CMS settings in PSP and SilverFast (Gamma and internal colorspace) need to be same. On Windows the sRGB colorspace is default in most of the software. It could be, that PSP don't support full CMS in this case. Then you need to switch this off in SilverFast too.

kind regards
