OS X and the Nikon LS-2000

Postby Peter Calvin » Wed Apr 09, 2003 7:34 pm

I have been waiting for a couple of problems to be corrected in the OS X version of Silverfast Ai for the Nikon LS-2000. Today when I checked to see if there was an update, I found only the OS 9, Nikon MAID version (6.0.2r8 NikonM) available for download, even though the page clearly says it is for OS X.

When will you post a de-bugged OS X version? I have emailed screen shots, scanned files and log files to support, but the problems have persisted in new each update.

Thanks,

It's the same release

The OS X release for the LS 2000 posted (6.0.2r7) is the same one as before and it still won't scan negatives at 48 bit and still gives jaggy (sawtoothed) edges when scanning slides. To be certain, I re-installed it and tested it this morning, getting the same results. (Mac G-4, 960 MB ram, OS 10.2.5)

I have sent samples, including log files, to several people at Silverfastover that last month. I can do so again, if need be.

The application works fine in OS 9, but that means re-booting everytime I need to scan 35 mm film.

Regards,

Peter

sawtoothed edges

Postby Peter Calvin » Sat Apr 26, 2003 4:24 am

Well, I downloaded and installed Silverfast Ai 6.0.2r8 for the LS 2000 (for OS X) and the 48 bit negative scans now yield positive images (as they should) and the Negafix profiles are better, but both slide and negative scans exhibit jagged or sawtoothed edges when viewed at close to 100%. This does not happen when scanning with the same release in OS 9, so I still must reboot in OS 9 to scan with Silverfast.

6.0.2r20

I downlaoded and installed the latest release, 6.0.2r20, and it still suffers from the same "sawtoothed", jagged edges when scanning both negatives and slides in OS X.

6.0.2r25

Once again another release of Silverfast Ai for the Nikon LS-2000 and Mac OS X has been posted that does not address the issue of jaggy or sawtoothed edges. I have sent numerous samples to support, beginning withthe OS X version came out. It is still the same for slides, and now negative film scans exhibit the same jagged edges.
