Nikon Scan 3.1.4 - 27 November 2002

Postby zhemgang » Fri Nov 29, 2002 4:20 pm

People may be happy to hear that Nikon has released Nikon Scan 3.1.4 that is compatible with Mac OS 10.2.2. the frustrating part, and something i hadn't tried under 3.1.3, is that one cannot have other scanners connected via firewire for the software to work. I have an Epson 2450 flatbed also connecetd via firewire and Nikon Scan wouldn't work. Disconnect the Epson and the LS4000ED is found by the software. Hurrahh!

I have yet to test with SilverFast 6 now. Has anyone tried?

No Preview

Well, I tried the Silverfast 6 Demo after installing Nikon Scan 3.1.4 and making sure my Epson 2450 was also not plugges in via firewire. Only the LS4000ED. This time, the scanner was recognised. When I make my settings and press preview, I get the usual scanner sounds, which finally stop, but then there is just a spinning color wheel. No Preview. Seems to have frozen. Should I just wait until lasersoft match version with the newer Nikon maid software versions. Are these in fact new MAID versions with Nikon Scan 3.1.4?

Have you had any luck with this problem? I get the same spinning wheel after the scanner seems to have focused.

I have the same problem with my LS-40 (IV ED) and having only installed nikonscan 3.1.4. The prescan focusses, measures exposure time... And looks like it completes the prescan, but just hangs, chewing up 100% CPU. I let it sit for 10 mintes and finally got an error message "Scanner error: 0" I closed this dialog box, but the software is still hanging, chewing up 100% cpu.

Maybe I should try installing SF again.
