I have a Nikon LS-5000 and am using the current version (6.5.5r4) of the Silverfast AI software to scan slides (demo)
I scan the slide in HDR mode and when the scan is done, the file is not saved, I locks up and leaves a temp file where it should have been saved.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the software (both nikon and silverfast) and it still does the same thing.
I really want to buy this software as I have used silverfast in the past and have HDR Studio now, but can't get AI to save the scanned file.
the scanner works fine and am able to save using both Nikon and v**s**n software.
Where am I going wrong?
Nikon LS-5000 -Silverfast won't save file after scan
I just tried it in 24 Bit Color and still the same. I did another uninstall the installed again. As I'm typing this it is still trying to save the file without any luck. It's been at it for around 5 minutes.
I saved it and the other scans in exactly the same place, no other issues like hard drive space, etc.
It's driving me crazy as I started with Silverfast a long time ago with version 5 that came with my Polariod Sprintscan 4000 and have used it a lot since then.

What did you tell SF to name the file as ?
Have you tried opening the "temp" file with HDR ?
Are you running with launcher or PS ? try with launcher if using PS.
What is the scanner doing while this is going on ?
Which drive are you saving to ? an external USB drive or internal ?
try explicitly deleting the prefs folder for SF for this scanner.

1. various names, none worked
2. With Launcher, then tried through Photoshop. No Luck. Even tried installing w/o photoshop
3. Scanner is finished and doing nothing.
4. Internal drive.
5. Temp file won't open
6. I'll give it a try. Where will the file be located? I'm using windows XP. I'll look around as well.
Found and deleted anything that had Nikon 5000 in the silverfast folder in: Documents & Settings/Administrator/Application Data/Silverfast on my hard drive.
Silverfast now works and saves the files, so whatever it was it was in that folder.
A Quick look and me thinks the scan using Silverfast is better than either v**s**n or Nikon Scan. I will do a real evaluation in the next day or two.
Thanks for the help in getting it working.
