Nikon LS-2000 icm XP

Postby Jos » Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:13 pm

I am thinking of buying an old Nikon -LS2000 filmscanner. This is a scsi scanner. On the Silverfast site I found out that this scanner is supported with Windows XP. I wonder what this means. Does it mean that when I've plugged in the scsi card and connected the scanner, I can just work with the scanner in Silverfast? Or do I have to make other preparations to do so, for instance installing the scsi card. Does anybody know if Windows XP supports scsi? Does Silverfast support the scsi card that belongs to this scanner?

Dear Jos,
scsi is supported quite well in Win XP, Vista & Windows 7 are a different stroy...
You should stick to a simple & Cheap scsi card, like the Adaptec 2906 or the like...

In XP you usually need to install the driver, for some SCSI XP already contains the deriver but i do not know which exactly.
The manufacturers website should let you know if a driver is available for the card you plan to purchase.
Once you got the scsi card to work under xp you just install SilverFast for the Nikon LS2000, attach the scanner ( and probably have to reboot ) and it should work !

Hi
I can only talk about my experience,,firstly forget about cheep SCSI card,,also do not touch Adaptec as they wont support the drivers,, I recently got on Ebay a nice ATTO card only cost US$32,00 It is supported with drivers for all platforms Windows as well as Mac I now can confirm it works 100% LS-2000 by the way I did not even had to install drivers for LS-2000 Silverfast already included the driver
Regards
Peter

Dear vk2vz,
this is almost opposite to my experiences :-)
Nevertheless we can learn that a cheap SCSI Card will do and that everything else depends a bit ob your config.
Do you simply prefer ATTO or did it really NOT WORK to use the LS2k with XP for you ??

best regards,
