Now that Nikon has updated it's Nikon Scan software for compatibility with OS 10.2.2 will Lasersoft test this with it's LS8000 and 4000ED versions? I tried the Silverfast 6 demo that I had on my system (version of 11/8/02) after installing Nikon Scan 3.1.4. I had removed any Nikon Maid folders first to ensure that I had the newer versions from Nikon (if indeed these are newer?). In order to have Nikon Scan work I had to make sure that no other scanner was attached (Epson 2450 Firewire) . Nikon Scan worked. Silverfast recognized the scanner but would not complete a preview scan. It made sounds like it was scanning but wouldn't present an image.
Advice would be helpful. Thanks, Rick

I get the same problem
I have been emailing back and forth with Karl-Heinz Zahorskykhz about this problem with no resolution. There is a problem with the current demo.

Problems with Silverfast Ai and Nikon?
Has anyone been able to fix the freezing preview problem with OS 10.2.3 and Silverfast Ai r40. I've been trying to get Ai to function with my Dual 1 ghz DDR/MDD machine, OS 10.2 and Coolscan 4000ED for 2 months now. I am very surprised that it's been such a hassle. And now there seems little support from the company!

ftp://customer:customer@silverfast.net/Nikonnew.sit
Replacing "library/application support/nikon" folder with the one from above fixed my issues on my dual 1 Ghz G4 with Nikon 8000ED.
This the email from Lasersoft

Hi Brian,
you could try this:
please go to
ftp://customer:customer@silverfast.net/Nikonnew.sit
and download and unstuff the Nikonnew.sit- file. This will create a new
Nikon- folder. Please go to
library/application support
on your hard drive, and rename the existing Nikon- folder in there (e.g. to
Nikonold). Then, copy the downloaded one into this place.
Please let me know if this solved the problem.

Not very elegent
I don't think I would pay for software that is installed this way. Certainly not $300. I'm not too impressed. Rick
