The problem is, that the film strips I have are not plane at the ends. This causes a soft scan for 1/4 of the first and the last negative. The Nikon CoolScan I use offers an autofocus feature. But if I am using that and focus to the ends, they will be sharp but not the most of the scan. Now it would make sense, if one could give several focus points for one negative, so that the scan would be refocused for every segment, that the complete scan results in a full sharp image. The implementation of such a feature can't be a big thing, but would give nearly the scan quality of a drum scanner but with the advantage of dust and scratch removal. I would be really happy to see such a feature. Please!

Re: multiple autofocus points
Dear Mr Rauberg.
Unfortunately the scanner does not support multiple focus points for a single scan.
A scan can only be executed with a single focus value and it can not be changed during the scan.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn
