LS-5000 iSRD and HDRi support for Windows

Postby rmorris » Sat Aug 08, 2009 11:08 pm

When will iSRD and HDRi support for Windows be available? Notice that newer versions of Ai Studio have support for this in the Mac environment.

Dear rmorris,
HDRi and iSRD *are* available for most scanners on WIndows already, the Nikon scanners are not yet supported because they still use the Nikon MAID drivers that are not able to export the IR data for us...
We are still in the process of sorting things out, but right now MAID + HDRi is a "no go".

As far as I know those programs also use the MAID Library and therefor the ICE function.
This does not offer the raw infrared data we need.

kind regards

Dear all,
this does not really change the situation on the PC !
On Mac we also supported the Nikon scanners directly like the Software you mentioned.
For PC we still rely on the MAID Library and that version does not allow *us* to save the IR Data.
And this is valid for every Software using MAID, other Software can bypass this limitation like we do on Mac.

We have to consider to do this on PC as well but currently we cannot do so !

Similar question I have LS-5000 and 9000Ed and am looking to upgrade to silverfast archive suite to digitise my collection of around 10000 negatives (yes I know it will take some time). Since these date back between 8 and 20yrs there will be some inevitable artifacts. I would like to use iSRD/HDRi but in windows this is not currently possible.

My dilema is that I have a choice between buying silverfast for a state of the art very high end win 7 64bit machine (core i7, 12gb ram, 4TB storage, High end video etc etc) together with full adobe video and photo suites etc etc which I use for video and digital photo processing or alternatively a lower end mac book pro (which currently does not have adobe suite on it) - if I went for the mac I would have iSRD but without the power if I go for the PC I will have processing power without iSRD.

What would anyone recommend? If there is light at the end of the tunnel and the Win version will get iSRD/HDRi in the near future the choice would be easy.....

Dear Jdonker,

You could use the mac to make the scans in 64 bits HDRi mode and then make the post processing in your windows machine with all its muscle.

Dear Jdonker,

SilverFast Ai and SilverFast HDR are two separate programs with separate licenses. Each license will allow you to download a Mac version or a PC version.

You need one license for SilverFast Ai and another license for SilverFast HDR.
