IT8 calibr. doesn't allow to choose file name for profile

Postby vkelman » Tue Oct 09, 2007 5:38 am

I use latest SilverFast Ai Studio 6.5.1r3 with Nikon 9000 scanner under Win XP.
With last upgrades I started to experience a strange problem with IT8 calibration:
Calibration process does not ask me for a file name which I want to use for just created ICC profile. Instead it automatically saves it into C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color\SF_T (Nikon LS-9000).icm file. If I calibrate scanner with different IT8 target (different film), it tells me that profile already exists and asks if I would like to overwrite it. It does not allow to choose a different file name. But I use more than one film, so I need more than one ICC profile!

I tried to rename just created .ICM file, so that more than one ICC profile would co-exist. But SilverFast either does not show my renamed profile in Options => Profiles for ICM => Input drop-down box or shows more than one profile with identical names "SF_T (Nikon LS-9000)". It looks like it caches information somewhere and does not look at what profiles are actually available in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color\ folder and/or takes an internal name stored in .ICM file. Whatever it is, it doesn't allow me to store and use more than one ICC profile.

I tried to turn On and Off automatic calibration, I tried to delete SilverFast\Prefs sub-folder - nothing helps.

For now I can just run calibration process again every time I change a film type, i.e go from Velvia to Provia or Kodak Ektachrome. But it looks like a real bug in SilverFast, isn't it?

Dear vkelman

Check > Options > Auto > Custom ICC profiles.
