I am trying to calibrate Silverfast with my Nkon LS-4000. It seems that I must not be getting the IT8 slide "square" with the scan frame. I always get the message "Error: Color patch sampling unacceptable! Please cancel and corect the current frame position!" I can tell from the preview that the scan frame is not perfectly square with the calibration slide patches. Despite repeatedly repositioning the slide I have not been able to get it square. Do anyone have suggestions about how I can get the slide to align correctly with the scan frame?
Alternatively is it possible that I am getting the scan frame in the wrong place? I am trying to align the frame exactly with the upper left and right corners of the color patches and with the bottom edge of the grayscale but I just do not seem to be able to get it right.

I had the same problem in my initial attempts to use the LaserSoft-supplied IT8 target in the LS 4000.I assume you already know the target must be in landscape orientation. My difficulty was getting the target square so I could actually select the(entire) target zone without having to clip the target itself because of its crookedness.Sometimes the slide is not square in the mount. If it is in a Gepe-type plastic mount,it can be opened, and the slide straightened. Also, the Nikon slide adapter is a bit roomy side-to-side,wise.You may have to,by trial and error, try inserting the slide with one finger pushing deliberately off center, repeatedly prescanning and modifying your technique.Eventually, you will get it dead-on. good luck,Jan C.

Please make sure the target shows up in your pre-scan windows exactly as shown in the example from the calibration- dialog. The target has to be oriented landscape and can't be tilted, mirrored, or upside down. You can correct this view using the rotate- tool in Silverfast (curved arrow) or the mirror- tool (arrows pointing down and to the right). Also, please make sure you set the crop marks exactly as shown in the example, and you're using the correct reference file. If the calibration still fails, please contact support with a screenshot fo your pre-scan window and the name of the reference file you are using.

Do you have the latest update of SF v6? I had the same problem with an earlier update (possibly prior to SFE-6.0.1r19(NikomM)), when each and every frame was rejected. Asked about it on this forum, wrote to LSI, but got no satisfactory reply. The calibration only went smoothly when the next update arrived.
