File with 2 sides after scan

When scanning a slide with my Nikon 4000ED it results in a tif-file with 2 sides. the file itself is about 8 MB bigger as usual. Never saw that before.

What's the reason for this. I can't remember changing any settings

Dear Otto.

What do you mean by 2 sides?

Please note that SilverFast writes HiRepp information into Tiff files if the file size is larger than a certain threshold. This HiRepp information can be treated as a second image inside the tiff file by some application and its size could result in the 8 MB you observe.

2 "sides" mean: scanning a slide results in 1 file with 2 images. opening this in a imagebrowser shows 2 "sides"

To me it looks like an embbeded jpg, because one image is smaller and looks more sharpened then other which is bigger. Normally a tif-file would have about 53 MB and in my case it's about 61 MB.

Opening this file in Phtoshop CS2 shows only one image (the bigger one).

Are their any settings in SF to avoid/control this?

Dear Otto.

You might want to switch the HiRepp function off. To do so, please open the "Options" dialog and select the "Spezial" Panel. There you will find the HiRePP checkbox.
