I use SF Ai 5.5.2r08 with an LS4000 and SF200.
When I set Ai "for batch scan to file" and activate the UM or "descreen & UM" filter, the final scan is not performed on the first slide and a "Scanner error: failed to focus" error message is displayed. This behavior is reproducable every time with 5.5.2r08 and 5.5.2r02. The error occurs both in 24 bit and 48 bit mode, obviously not in HDR since filters are disabled in this mode.
The error doesn't occur when I either do single scans or disable UM (which is not the idea, is it?)
Any ideas / workarounds?

The answer to your problem is in the topic Help. I'm drowning!.

Set the High Resolution Prescan option to x1 and your problem will go away. It's a known bug is SF v5.5.

The problem seems to be fixed in 5.5.2r20.
Thanks to Lasersoft.
