Does the SA-20 work?

In the pre-headache days when my Silverfast worked in almost perfect harmony with my LS-2000, I found it was ok with the MA-20 single tranny adapter but the SA-20 film strip adapter didn't function at all. Is this normal or am (was) I getting half the deal (actually a third counting the misbehaving SF-200) ?

The SA-20 works fine, did you check our FAQ sites?

Well mine doesn't! I get two error warnings. The first is "film adapter not found' followed by 'MAID library not found'. I have tried installing the SA-20 first and then turning everything on, hot swapping etc but to no avail. Perhaps I have to wait until another user finds the solution and posts it here. Imagine i f my new car was run on a similar basis!
