Coolscan 9000 ED Calibration

Postby pasuther » Mon Jul 10, 2006 3:25 pm

Hi,

I have both the 5000 and the 9000. 5000 is calibrated with IT8. Can this same target be used to calibrate the 9000 (film types being equal etc..)?

Will the target provide the necessary information to the scanner/software interface?

Many thanks
Paul

Simple answer, 'Yes'.

If you purchase SilverFast Ai (Studio?) for the 9000 you will find that it is IT8 enabled by default and will be supplied with an E6 (Ektachrome - I think that's correct) target. Equally the target you have from the 5000 should work as well because IT8 is a calibration standard.

I also have a 9000ED and am scanning primarily Kodachrome. As such I managed to get hold of a genuine Kodachrome Q60 calibartion target. Silverfast worked very well performing it's IT8 calibration from the Kodak target.

All the best.
