Can't find Nikon LS-4000

Postby photocurio » Fri Feb 27, 2004 12:09 am

I have a g4 mac with 2 firewire scanners: a umax powerlook 1100, and a nikon ls-4000 ed. the mac is running osx panther. the nikon has silverfast ai 6 installed, and the umax has silverfast se installed. both are plug ins for photoshop 7.

When I installed the silverfast se for the umax, my silverfast for the nikon became unable to see the nikon ls-4000. system profiler can see it fine, so it is pluggin in correctly. I do not have nikonscan installed, nor do multiple users use this machine. I tried re-installing silverfast for nikon, but nothing changed: it still can't see the scanner. can anybody help???

Are the two scanners on different FW controllers (not just different plug) ? i am not a Mac user, but the Nikon CS4000 wanted to be the only device on the Firewire controller under windoz. You might try booting with only one scanner attached and see if that works.

thanks, degrub! that seems to be a useful workaround.
