6x6 and Framing

I cannot for the life of me scan the 2nd or 3rd frames of 6x6 using the stock strip holder. I'm running latest Silverfast Studio release and Mac OS 10.6. Will someone please point me to specific instructions on scanning 6x6 negatives? No matter how I try manipulating the offset, I cannot get a complete second frame. I've tried resetting everything and starting completely over a number of times, same problem. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but could use a little help here.

lets first try for the easy solutions

Did you choose 6x6 as Film Format in the selection ? The Default is 6x4,5 if i recall it correctly !

Hello the both of you,

has there been a solution to this problem? I experience something comparable.
When scanning 6*6 filmstrips: the first image will be fine, the others "do not fit" meaning the "offset" between images does not correspond to my pics.

The space between different photographs in the film is not always the same, it is not a standard "in between space" there. For that reason you will find an offset correction button in your scanner, in that way you can always mark the beginning or the end of a determined picture.

I am encountering the same thing - Nikon 8000, 10.6.3, SF 6.6.1r4a, I can scan the first frame, but when I go to the 'overview of all images on the film' it shows the same thing for all three frames. And I cannot scan either of the 2 other frames.

I use a Nikon glass carrier with and without the frames for 6x6. Before switching to SilverFast, I had the same problem you all describing. I called Nikon and they told me that Nikon Scan 4 and the scanner itself (8000) was set up to only scan the first image perfectly. #2 and 3 did not work. Being Nikon, they chuckled and said I was on my own but suggested that I cut the individual negatives/slides and just position them in the #1 area. I was not pleased. However, I was able to fool Nikon Scan 4 by not using the templates. I haven't tried that yet in Silverfast seeing that I just today purchased the Archive/Studio Suite. Wish me luck. If not...well, I'm cutting the 6x6 negatives. I no longer care. I just want the greatest scans possible. I'll deal with storage later. Bob Witkowski

I am using SF AI V6.6r3 and fot the life of me I can not get all 3 6X6 frames accessible when scanning. It seems to see the 2nd and third frames can be accessed but the third frame ( one fartest into the scanner) is almost impossible to access. If I use the fram offset tool I can eventually get it to preview... but it's tough...

Is this the same issue the rest of you are having? I am using the Nikon 120 AN glass carrier

Dear hassiman,

make sure you are selecting the right format, depending on the film holder you will find different formats in the general panel.
Once you have selected the right format make an overview then jump straight to the third frame, use the offset tool to compensate for the third frame and then make the overview again, this should help.
