2 Problems with Silverfast AI/LS9000

Hi

I am getting excellent results with Silverfast/Photoshop plugin and the NIKON LS9000. However this is marred by two recurring problems which seem to occur in the middle of processing batches of images. I am mostly processing 6x7 transparencies and B+W using the glass film holder, but I also get these issues with 35mm mounted transparencies

1) On starting the Import dialog, the SilverFast splash screen appears, saying "searching for devices", then Photoshop hangs and I cannot cancel it even with "end task". I eventually have to reboot the machine.

2) I get a message saying "Cannot focus" when attempting a prescan. Adjusting the negative position in the holder makes no difference. The only way I can get Silverfast to work after this is to delete the preference files, which is annoying as it seems to get rid of calibration info as well

I'va appended the latest log file. Only other info I can suggest is I'm using a dual motor setup with the Matrox Parhelia card

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated - this is seriously disrupting my workflow. I don't have any issues withe Nikonscan, but then I don't wan't to use it
