SF Ai 6 and Win XP with 2 processors.

On my system I have Win XP prof running with 2 processors Pent III 1gHz. Photoshop 7 is adressing these two processors. I can see this in Windows Task Manager/Photshop.exe and right-click/set affinity. But when running SF Ai 6.01.r13 as plug-in with my LS4000 and then opening Windows Task Manager/Photshop.exe and right-click/set affinity I see that this time only CPU 0 is checked and not CPU 1. Checking CPU 1 while SF is open speeds up dramatically from 54% to 90-100% the final scan.
Closing SF again without closing Fotoshop, unchecks CPU1. Would it be possible to let SF adress automatically the two processors every time?

Maybe something to look at in a new update...

There is a thread in the forums about problems with dual CPU systems and the Nikon Maid modules that details the problems. As i understand it , there was a timing issue with some systems that would result in a system lock up. LaserSoft got around this issue with the Maid modules by turning off the second CPU. Hopefully, Nikon will address this. As a work around for those of us who use dual CPU systems, perhaps LaserSoft would consider putting a switch in the prefs file that we could set, with a default of one CPU. THat way we could try it and if it worked on our system take advantage of the obvious speed increase.

Some users reported, that the system freezes during scan, when both CPUs are checked on. Neither Nikon nor LaserSoft could ever reproduce this problem. That is while we disabled the use of the second CPU in our Nikon plugin.

Yes, we could let the user decide, whether to use the second CPU or not. It could also bring us a lot of support problems. Anyway, I will bring this point up to discussion in our next developer meeting.

Personally I would prefer the option in SF itself to choose whether or not to use the second CPU. If problems arise I could always disable it.
Doing like I do now by going into Taskmanager every time I open SF is some big hassle.

Anyway thanks for putting it on the agenda....
