I would like to have an option for my Powerlook 3000 to scan at the same slow speed as all versions until 5.5.0r06 did.Newer versions scan with 2x (firmware 2.0) or even 4x speed(firmware 2.2).If you set the scan to "fast" in the options, you can speed it up even more with terrible quality! There is no possibility to scan as slow(and good) as in former versions. If you take a close look at the shadow areas, you will notice MORE NOISE!I don`t know, why all the newer versions are supposed to scan faster at the cost of quality.
So please give us the option to scan in the original speed!

This is new to me! I will investigate and see where the possible change comes from.

Hi Martin,
until 5.5.0r06 a 24/36 mm scan (DOR mode)took about 2minutes(without calibrating- and focussing time)with firmware 2.0.
5.5.2r02 for example takes only 1 minute with firmware 2.0 and only 25sec with firmware 2.2!I went back to firmware 2.0 now.But if you have a shadow area(not totally black) without any structure and you compare 5.5.0r06 to 5.5.2r02 you can see, that the noise increases, what is not surprising.
Of course,I`ve set the scanning speed to slow in the options.
I`m curious, what you will find out.

I tested the current SilverFast on Mac platform with PL3000 with firmware 2.2. Scanning 24x36mm in DOR(HighRes) at 3048 dpi didn't result in the fast scanning speed you mentioned. Was your observation maybe taken on PC platform?

I`m using WinME and XP.So how long does a 3048 dpi scan(24/36mm;DOR mode)take on your machine(without calibrating- and focussing time)?Which version are you using?
