please move the Eject Film button (NikonM)

Postby Gregory C » Fri Mar 05, 2004 2:25 pm

I frequently click the Eject film button by mistake when I actually want to click the Film Offset button. there are two reasons for this:

1. the Eject film button has a nice film icon on it and it attracts my attention when I'm thinking of Film offset.

2. the Eject film button is in the middle of the buttons. it's easy to click it by mistake.

please move the Eject button to the bottom of the buttons. clicking it means the end of all operations for the current film strip/roll so placing it below everything else makes perfect sense. at the bottom of the buttons, it will be much harder to click by mistake too.

regards
Gregory

We are considering moving many of the buttons currently in the pre-scan window to the main Silverfast AI window. Methodycally, it would make more sense to have the eject- button near the scan button, instead of having it in the pre-scan window. This is something to be done in one of the next major updates.

the scan button is one which is frequently pressed. it would be dangerous to place the eject button too close to it.

additionally, the eject button should prompt the user for confirmation before ejecting the film. once the film has been ejected, the user is required to reload the film, rescan the thumbnails and reset all frames, etc before continuing. that's a lot of punishment for accidentally pressing the eject button ;-)

Gregory

Job Manager requests

Postby Gregory C » Thu May 12, 2005 4:38 pm

this doesn't apply to buttons but I hope that you'll consider it anyway.

A. when in JobManager/Edit mode, allow the user to resize the preview window and then have JobManager remember the size/position for every other frame in the job queue.

I'm finding it impossible to set the position/size of the preview window while using the Job Manager. I've tried setting the position/size while the Job Manager is not visible, while it's visible and while it's in edit mode. nothing works. every time the Job Manager opens up another frame, it defaults to all of the space between the Main Panel window and the screen edges.

where or how can I define the position/size of the preview window while Job Manager is in Edit mode?

B. allow the user to save Job Manager queues while in Edit mode. it's possible I don't understand this but I suspect that if I edit a frame's settings and click on the Save button in the main panel, the frame's settings are saved in Edit mode but will be lost if the queue is not saved via the Job Manager menu. is this true?

C. we need a method to change the file names of all items in a queue. eg, I have a queue with all items set to save as 1000 x 400 pixels. I run the job. I then change all of the items to export as 3000 x 1200 pixels. I want to save to the same location as before but cannot because all of the files have the same name. I need a quick way to change the names of all of the items in the job queue.

regards,
Gregory
