This scanner is great for 35mm and medium format! The scanner software works alright, but no where near as good as Silverfast.

Plus I've emailed Minolta multiple times about OS X support and they always hedge.

So it seems like Silverfast could make a killing if they came out with OS X support for this scanner.

I just got an email back from Minolta saying that they are "still working on OS X drivers". Before it wasn't clear if they had any intention to make OS X drivers.

I'm confused by you telling me to "suggest this to Minolta." Does Silverfast need permission or assistance in making scanner software for a specific scanner? I always assumed they did it from scratch.

SilverFast and Minolta Scanners

In order to successfully adapt SilverFast to other scanners, such as the Minolta scanners, we need the support from the manufacturer. The manufacturer has to supply us with the command set of the scanner or an SDK, otherwise it could ages to find everything out by trial and error or monitoring the bus data stream.

There is good hope for Minolta scanners now, since Minolta just recently agreed to support us with the technical information needed. We are waiting for those to arrive to start working on Minolta scanners.

Ok - sounds promising. Half a year has passed now. Is there any progress?

I see that LSI_Engelhardt has been answering the same thing "ask Minolta" number of times in the forum. So this suggests that there is no progress - or should I ask from Minolta?
