It would be *GREAT* if the manual focus panel would do the following:
(*) provide a control that let us select the number of scans being averaged *independently* of the number used for the final scan. This would let the focusing use one pass and finish quickly rather than the 8 or 16 passes we might have set for the final scan. This would save us from having to change the settings in the main window and (maybe forget to) change them back. If this value could be saved as a default (maybe even one default per film type?), even better.
(*) provide a control that lets us select the dpi for the focusing *independently* of the value for the final scan. This would let us scan the critical focusing area at maximum resolution so we can focus on grain. The final scan can still be low-resolution. If this dpi value could be saved as a default, even better.
and most of all...
(*) Show a series of manual focus attempts, sorted by value (what is that value, anyway?). This would let us see very easily when we are narrowing in, and when we overshoot. It would make focusing MUCH easier, quicker and more precise than trying to remember if 2.73 looked better than 2.70 but not better than 2.77, etc. etc.
Thanks!
