Some of my ideas ideas on improving HDR. I am working on 6.4.1r4b (Windows).
1) In VLT mode I would like to see the whole name of the image I choose. The names I use are too long to fit completely below the thumbnails, so they all look alike. The only way to get to see the file name that I found is to use the 'i' Button. Would be nice to have it right at hand. Maybe as an info that shows on rollover.
I often work on a lot of images in one folder. Switching between VLT and working mode is somewhat tedious especially since VLT doesn't switch back to my last view. So with hundred images in a folder, working on the second half I have to scroll down and to identify the last image I've been working on.
So it would be nice to have VLT return to the same position I left.
And it would be nice to have an option in HDR 'next image' so it won't be necessary to switch to VLT if you want to work through a pile of images.
2) When I use the Job Manager, create a couple of jobs with filters (e.g. GANE) and then switch the color profile (my IT8 Profile for the Nikon LS4000 has a hard time with dark areas), all filter settings get lost in the jobs already placed in the job manager. All just say 'no filter'. Changes to gradation or with other tools are still present.
So it would be great to keep the filter settings.
Kind regards
Joerg

Dear Joerg
1) (a) full file name shown:
Entered in our development database.
(b) VLT returning to image position:
Already in development; will probably come available with 6.4.2r2.
(c) next image button:
Entered in our development database.
2) I couldn't recreate the problem.
You might want to contact us using the problem report form (> Support > Contact support) to have a closer look at this.

Dear Sonny,
Thanks for your reply! And I am looking forward to find these features in Silverfast.
With regard to 2) - there seems to be something with HDR and my Computer that's funny. If I start HDR on its own (not from Photoshop) it crashes. I can't copy filter settings. And on switching color profiles I loose filter settings in the job manager. We looked at the crashing some time ago but couldn't nail it down. So I guess I have to live with it.
Thanks for your support and best regards

Dear Joerg
You're sure that Photoshop launches the same SilverFast plug-in the SF_Launcher does?
Please check if in the Photoshop/Plug-Ins/Import-Export folder an alias can be found pointing to the SilverFast plug-in in [Windows:] /Program files/LaserSoft/ respectively [Mac:] /Applications/SilverFast application or a given "SilverFast (Scannername)" subfolder.
Best regards
Sonny

I'm still can't see long file names in VLT and this is 2010. I just found this post after drafting this similar one:
"In VLT, long file names are impossible to read, either in list on left (for which there seems to be no adjustment of width), or in captions below thumbnails (which have no 'hover' display of file name). There is nothing user can do about column width, but at least the full file name is displayed if you hover the mouse over the file in the column; the only way to get full name in the thumbnail view is to choose 'information' window for the image. Particularly annoying for 'portrait' oriented images, where even the largest choice of thumbnail is not wide enough to show the whole file name."
Can you please move the 'make long file names visible' up on the priority list? Or has there been another solution that I am not aware of?
