consecutively numered filenames in job manager

Postby frankest » Mon Mar 10, 2003 6:41 pm

I'm missing the feature to have a place holder formatting string
to add consecutive numbers to file names in the job manager.

Imagine I would name my files in job manager: "2003-01-%nn.jpg"
This would produce filenames like: "2003-01-01.jpg", "2003-01-02.jpg", ...

Of course one should be able to define a starting number.

"%nnn" would produce a 3 digit numbers.

(My background: I saved jobs with predefined settings for
scanning tens of slides. But not only for this purpose the
described option would be very helpful.)

Steffen.

problem with file numbering. please explain the rules.

Postby Gregory C » Sun Feb 08, 2004 12:53 am

we still do not have better numbering facilities and I'm having difficulties.

my current situation:

Batch Mode (file)
Form Feeder
Negative

Frame/Name is <Untitled frame>

when I click Scan, in the Save As dialog, SF defaults to the previous file name I used. I specify "19900218 #1 .tif"

Reset numbering is turned off.

when SF saves the files, it appends the file number *after* the .tif extension rather than before it. eg, "19900218 #1 .tif0001"

why?

what are the rules that SF uses to determine where to place the file number?

when might we see better naming options?

regards
Gregory

Hello,

I am also a strong requestor for such a feature.

I am scanning Super 8 cine films in order to digitize them (with a superior quality by using now the Epson 4990). My program S8ToAVI (see http://wkurz.com) needs consecutively numbered images representing a strip of the film in order to extract the frames contained in this strip. Then these frames are used to generate an AVI file.

It would be a great help to have the scans automatically numbered in a predefined way by Silverfast.

Regards
Wolfgang

You'll find much better file numbering options for both the normal batch scan and from the JobManager in the upcoming version 642r4.

Best regards
Ralf
