cancel/stop button without losing CMS setting

Postby Kul » Sun Apr 23, 2006 4:47 pm

Silverfast Ai

If you press "cancel" you lose some of your settings (at least in CMS dialog).

With Silverfast forcing you quite often to delete your prefs and then reconfigure everything and being somewhat confusing (you have to change windows and dialogs to do all the settings) it happens quit regurlarly that you start a batch scan and then discover you missed to set a specific parameter.

After "cancel" you are not sure what you have to do again

Dear Kul

as SilverFast prefs are written back when you end the programme normally (as you should in any instance).

BTW, force-quitting always is to be used a last resource. If you find you missed a parameter, you rather want to cancel the scan in progress.
Although this may take some time (depends on your settings), because the scanner needs to be ready for accepting SilverFast sending the cancel command to it, force-quitting will cause the software to be cut cold by the operating system with both, scanner and software in an unknown state.

Further problems when 'using' any software in this manner can occur as a result.

Thank you Sonny,

What I meant was the "cancel" button of Silverfast. I am willing to wait for SF to be ready to accept the "cancel" but thought then it would be a cancel with a proper stop and the software saving everything an return to normal.

Best regards
Regards
