LaserSoft Imaging trys to support most / all of the negative films which are currently available. What's about not supported negative films, e.g. old films, special professional films, etc.?

We can try to produce NegaFix film profiles also for these films, if ?

1) we get some 48 bit raw data files (without any corrections!!) from normally eyposed and (ideally) underexposed and overexposed negatives (all from the same image / location / setting),

2) these negatives show black and white and some grayscales and (ideally) more or less all colours and skintones, ?

Please be so kind and scan the negatives in SilverFastAi with "Image mode /48 bit HDR colour" as small files of about 5 MB and compress them in SilverFastAi as JPEGs (SilverFastAi / General panel / Scan Mode / Normal (File) / Format: JPEG / Options: Quality at level 8. The resulting size will be about 500 kB.

Afterwards our developer team will try to reconstruct an original negative profile for this film.

Surely there are professional photographers available to produce such files for Lasersoft Imaging.

Just what do we, the paying customers, get for our generosity? Free upgrades? A working copy of HDR? Properly exposing (and bracketing) film, not to mention the scanning and editing you specify, costs money, time, and effort.

Properly, it should be done with Gretag-Macbeth targets with professional lighting, i.e., color correct within 100K. The film should be checked with the appropriate densitometers before scanning to the specs you requested.

These so-called "special" films are not hard to come by. Please do the work, or have a pro do it for a reasonable fee as part of Lasersoft Imaging's R & D, and then make sure all versions of Ai include all of the film profiles.

It would be nice of Lasersoft to reconfigure Negafix so that the film profiles are stored in a folder like the IT-8 reference files. That way they would be downloadable, upgradable, and one could edit them more easily.

Please don't ask customers to do the work of beta testers and/or professional photographers without recompense.

Thank you.

BTW in the latest version of NikonM Kodak T-Max 400 is not listed however there is a T-Max 400 listed under Ilford. I'm assuming it's simply listed in the wrong place?

Fujipress 800 = Fuji Superia 800 - the Superia 800 setting, you'll be happily suprised

Add NPZ to that list!!!

Also Kodak Profoto 100 and 200 are missing. These film are very popular in Estern Europe.

Kodak Farbwelt would be useful (though I personally hate it, but I have to scan it frequently (it's a popular consumer film)).
If I could finally get SF to work more or less stable with my Nikon LS 4000, I'd be happy to provide some data.

Fuji Reala ("Superia Reala 100"). We are really often using it here as a "relatively budget but much higher grade" film, and it was really surprising to not find profile for it even in Ai 5.5.2

I saw that SF 6 has the same profiles in Negafix as the SF 5.5 SE for the LS-2000. (I bought the upgrade to Ai anyway....)

Please add: FujiPress 400 and 800, and Fujicolor 160 NPC

Fuji Reala

Postby Stephen Rising » Sat Sep 07, 2002 12:27 am

I would like to scan Fuji Reala (J27) with Silverfast. I currently have SE and would be willing to get another version, but I understand this film is not supported in any version.

I request that Silverfast support Fuji Reala film.

Please update with these fuji films: NPZ 6x6, NPL tungsten 6x6, Reala 6x6, NEW NPH 6x6. These are not specialty films, they are films that I and other pro and semi-pro photographers shoot regularily. Why are they not included in negafix???

Kodak's new Portra 400UC needs a profile in the next version. It's going to be an extremely popular film.
