A Technical Pan

Scanning B+W negatives is a major concern for me.My scanner,a Nikon 4000 ED,is mostly used for digitizing my large mostly B+W 35mm archive that I add to less and less as I transition to digital.Still,out of 1500 or so rolls of various B+W negs,many have yet to be printed(or scanned).One type I still like is Kodak Technical Pan.Technidol is the reccomended developer,but I prefered a dilute Rodinol.I mention it because I imagine it must have a somewhat unique profile, the film being an unusual case.(For negative film(ASA 25) Techpan is considered to have the highest resolving potential available.)What I am wondering is,does one really need profiles for use with B+W neg films?The correction work involved here seems very 2-D compared to the 3-D nature of working with color neg film.Perhaps that is why I cannot find (and please alert me if otherwise) any mention of B+W negative processing in the NegaFix tutorials,or even in the manuals,addendums or tutorials, here or elsewhere,generally.The impression I get is one of neglect.The question of profiles aside,perhaps it would be worthwhile to summorize(at least)what procedures are recommended for a number of B+W neg scanning, correction and destination scenarios.Which tools should be avoided,if any?Can color tools/functions be used to atvantage in a greyscale mode?Any special settings at all?Does any old greyscale profile work as well as another in Silverfast or in the destination.I'm sure there are many out here(including myself)who feel stranded in this grey-area.We might really benefit from an addendum,a chapter or a tutorial on this matter.
