64bit Vista Support

Postby Rodnas » Fri Mar 06, 2009 9:18 am

Still waiting for additional Vista 64bit support on many high-end scanners. I'm noticing many venders, Dell, hp, etc. are all shipping even low-end standard systems w/ Vista 64...I have been using 64bit OS for such a long time, it seems the Silverfast SW suites are lagging a bit behind hardware curve :-(

Dear Rodnas,

we are currently working on the Windows Vista 64 support, could you please specify the Highend Scanners you are talking about ?

The Epson V750-M Pro Scanner. I use your Archive Suite (Ai IT8 Studio/HDR studio). I am truly limited in shear computing power available with my system while transferring very large amounts of data and performing very large scans. I specialize in Giclée and wide format printing (20+ yrs experience). All my scanning and data transfers have to go from XP x86 system to Vista X64 bit system via network, huge boottleneck.

I use both CS4 & Lightroom running in x64 mode environment. System bottleneck is only with the scanner interface. I use very high-end custom graphic WS (32GB’s of memory, ATI’s V8650, 3TB, etc). I would welcome beta, I have years of experience benchmarking and testing SW/HW systems (hp, Adobe, Epson, etc.) and would welcome the idea if available. I can send you full systems specs and capabilities for qualification. I’m very anxious to reap the full benefits of your incredible SW suites in a Vista 64 bit environment.

I can only agree. I have a new Epson V750, and an old Nikon LS2000 both working on vista64 and I am amazed a high end product like Silverfast doesn't support Vista64. If Hamrick can get v**s**n working on vista 64 all the more surprising that Silverfast doesn't. I hope it arrives soon.

Dear Customers,

At the moment we are in the last stages of testing a version of SilverFast that supports Vista 64 with a wide range of Epson Scanners, of course the V700 & V750 are among them.
Please note that we really test it intensively on all different configurations to minimize downtime and glitches at the customers side.

Will the Epson Perfection V500 be supported in either Vista 32bit or 64bit? Thanks for the info.

I'd don't suppose you'd be prepared to give a rough indicaton of the release date for Vist64? Otherwise it is dual boot time and I'd rather save the effort!

Dear Customers,

at the moments we are in the final stages of testing the new release which will hopefully be out before the end of the month, we really do not want to rush things here as this release has quite a couple of improvements that need accurate testing in various configurations.

I have Vista x64 and a Nikon LS 5000 scanner.

Silverfast will be available with this scanner in 64 bits mode ? When ? (a another software, v**s**n, has this possibility...)

Thanks LaserSoft RD/Marketing for finally releasing Vista 64 driver support for Ai Studio for Epson V750-M Pro. Initial first usage ran great, users who have ram exceeding the (x86) limitations can truly benefit from this upgrade. I measured workflow throughput increases up to 40%+ on killer workstation.

Now to the other big question. Hopefully the Ai HDR Studio Vista 64 drivers are not far behind this new release. I use the Silverfast Archive Suite, [Ai Studio (multi-exposure)/Ai HDR Studio] and require both of these programs running on same machine and architecture (Vista 64). Please tell me I’m correct and a new release supporting Vista (x64) is soon on the way for your Ai HDR Studio.
