slow slow scan times

Hello out there. I am experiencing really slow scan times with Silverfast Ai V6 software on my Minolta 5400 Elite. I am sure that initially it was faster! I am also using the Minolta software and that is performing just fine, as it always has, But I have installed Silverfast ( past month) hopng for a better result. BUT the scan times are ridiculous about 45-60 mins. for an A4. I wondered if I have not emptied a cache or re set defaults or what ever. it really is crazy, the time to scan a 6x4 @72dpi is about 30mins! The problem is the same with negatives or slides. I was initially very impressed but now I am going nuts just waiting and wondering if the scanner has crashed. I am using a mac OSX with 1gb ram Any simple solutions would be much appreciated. Tony

Dear Tony

as SilverFast defaults settings differ in some aspects from DimageScan, therefore please activate the fast prescan in SilverFast:
SF Options > Prescan draft = "on"
Also you need to set these options on the vertical button panel on the preview window:
grain dissolver, auto focus and exposure off, no multi-sampling

Furthermore, please activate in DimageScan 16 bit per color channel.

How are the prescan and scanning times when compared now?
