Dimagescan Elite 5400 doesn?t work anymore in Tiger!

Postby wolke » Tue Sep 27, 2005 9:34 pm

Hello!

After a alarming usenet posting of another Dimagescan 5400 user i found out, that my Dimagescan isn?t working anymore in Tiger! Since the Tiger installation i had nothing to scan and so i?m late to find things out

The Dimagescan Utility doesn?t work and Silverfast either. I downloaded the latest SF Ai release (6.4.2.r5d) and it gave no solution on this even it is supposed to work with Tiger...

Also have i tried both USB and FireWire connection and none of them got the scanner back to work (while my Nikon LS5000 is still alive and running). Systemprofiler can see the scanner too, but none of the applications can work with it.

Anyone a clue on what to do?

I?m really desperate with this device because the usenet poster told, that Minolta doesn?t plan to support the scanner in tiger!? That would mean, i wasted about 750 EURO+SF half a year ago for a -in the future- useless device...

Please help!
Thanks in advance for your input!

Hello wolke,

It sounds like a driver issue Vs an application issue based on the fact that niether the Dimagescan Utility or SF AI are working. I think you should contact Minolta,

I took a look on their web site and the last MAC driver for the Dimagescan 5400 is dated March 14, 2005.

Hmm, thank you!
May i have a link on this if it is newer than mine?
The latest i found was january 2005 (v.1.1.5) on the german site.

I googled around and got a fix now. In my case it was the "MFSButtonCheck" that is placed in the DimageScan folder. After removing this file the apps startet OK again. If someone needs some infos on this it can be found here:

I'm glad to hear that you found a fix. I attempted to place a link to the March 14, 2005 update I found on the US web site. I decided to test it before submitting my previous post (good thing I did) and found that it would only lead to the entire update list Vs the model specific list that I had viewed.

I attempted another search by going to the product over view page first and it brought up a table of the driver updates that did not show the posting dates like the first table I had found. I think if you got it working, you might not want to mess with it at this point.
