"Reset All" scope

Postby drm » Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:35 am

Is there any way to stop the general Corrections Reset button (on left of Prescan) turning ICE off ? And, with what seems to be a new "feature" in v6.4.1, the same Reset appears to turn SRD on....

And whilst I'm here...

And could LaserSoft either employee a usability engineer or read a few books on the topic ? Access to SRD has got to be one of the most arcane lash-ups in the history of GUIs.... (yeah, I know, this isn't a support forum)

Dear Drm,

as you already mentioned usabality questions please for the support via the support contact formular.

For the critics of the GUI we will rework the interface anyway by this year so your wishes are warmly welcome.

kind regards

Dear Mr Bruhn,

I'm glad to hear it! Please note that if I didn't use the software so much I wouldn't raise issues. It actually takes time for people to submit cases, to post issues, and this demonstrates first some faith in the software and second some faith that the company is listening. I've also given praise where due. It is clear that Silverfast is the best scanning software in the world at this price level. But it does have bugs, and sometimes it seems that adding features and making the product line even more complicated is more important than improving the user experience. As somebody with some professional experience in usability engineering I might disagree.

The closest competitor to Silverfast is v**s**n. I tried it again last night, because I wanted to check a calibration issue. So I got the lastest version. Well, it is full of bugs, has a hopelessly jargon-full GUI, and is very very slow. And crashes a lot. And on top of this, it isn't even so cheap now. So compared to the competition there, you're doing great. You even have far better histogram-based color correction tools than Photoshop. But there is a lot of room for progress.

I'm a great fan of Silverfast, and if I contribute here it is because I want you to get feedback. Sometimes at the end of the day with a deadline looming I can get a bit irritable. I apologise for this...

Best wishes

David Mantripp

Dear Mr. Mantrip,

I very thankful for your input - but just for more clarification. Handling support through the forum is not as easy as through our ticket system.
And I don't want customers input to get lost.

kind regards
