Hi

Where is the multiple sample/scanning option in Silverfast AI 5 for Artixscan 4000T? I can?t find it anywhere.... Is it only 5.5 that has this feature? I use Silverfast 5.2.1, Photoshop 5 win98.

Any clues?

The feature isn't available on the ArtixScan.

Yes it is - according to Lasersoft this option is included in the software acxactly for the Artixscan - and again according to Lasersoft - it is available in the 5.x version as well:

That was then, this is now and the feature is quite obviously not supported by your scanner now!

The Artixscan 4000T and Sprintscan 4000 are the same scanner with a different cover. The SS4000 had multiple scanning for a while and it was dropped because the scanner could not produce consistently accurate registration. You might want to read the following message:

How come Lasersoft writes it on their own website? I reaaly miss the option of multiple sampling - I was convinced it was in the Silverfast for AS4000T because it was stated here at their own website.
The other post you refer to says Silverfast only supports mutiple sampling in EPSON scanners. What about NIKON? My old NIKON LS-2000 had that feature and it made miracles with old dusty slides....

How can I (besides of cleaning the slides) remove dust and scratches on my AS4000T? Maybee another software like v**s**n or Microteks own? I can?t find a solution to that problem....!!!! And old dusty scratched slides is still a part of reality - not all slides is clean and healthy!

It was until around version 5.1 was released, after that I think it was dropped for the reasons given.

Nikon LS2000 and LS4000 use a single pass method and this is supported as standard. With V5.2r08 and before the LS30 and LS40 required the purchase of IT8 module to activate the multipass method. I don't know what is provided in V5.5.

Multiscan has ZERO effect on dust it is for dark area noise reduction.

OK - your might be right then.

Anyway - do you have any methods that reduces scratch and dust - I have som pretty nasty slides I have to scan from time to time - and the NIKON LS2000 really saved me a lot post-scanning work in Photoshop. I?ve tried to scan in different resolutions and different sharpening nodes, but nothing really does the trick. Any ideas for the perfect "remove-as-much-dirt-and-scratch-as-pos" for the AS4000T and SF 5.x?

Dear Morten.

We, at LaserSoft Imaging, are working very hard on a dust and scratch removal function. We schedule the first version to be available at the CEBIT this year.
