Postby Lothar » Wed Dec 16, 2009 9:50 pm

Dear Lothar,

right now we can not precisely tell if we are going to be able to support the scanner at all. It is already in our test queue. As soon as we have positive news regarding this scanner, we will publish this on our list of supported scanners under se7en 64 bits.

Kind Regards

Hi Alejandro,
Hi, well yes I knew that; otherwise, why the question?
The question is, when will LaserSoft provide i900 windows 7 64bit support?
There is a strong rumor that Windows 8 will NOT have a 32 bit version;
without 64bit support there will be no i900 use with silverfast at this rate.
And practically no one is building new film scanners.
And I think the i900 replacement, the M1 in the USA doesn't even have ICE support.
Old scanners are becoming valuable commodities; look at the ebay prices for the
Nikon 4000 and 5000 scanners.
Silverfast also doesn't support ICE for the i900. The i900 is a worthy and capable
scanner and deserves the best silverfast software support possible.
Thanks, Jon
ps even infrared channel support would be nice, but, in this case, I would bet it is
a hardware problem and not a software one like 64bit and hardware ice.

Thanks for posting that, it is in fact a major issue we have been dealing with in the last months. LaserSoft Imaging has focused all its efforts in re-program SilverFast from ground up to face that and other challenges that might come in the near future.a

SilverFast foundations were originally laid in times when 64 bit computing was a mere dream. With the advent of 64 bit computing we were faced with new challenges that required a significant amounts of efforts and resources to be solved.
The transition from 32 to 64 bits computing has not been easy and many scanners where affected by this.

The ScanMaker i900 is among those scanners.

While Microtek might offer support for Win7 64 bit. Our internal tests have uncovered some problems to work with SilverFast 6.6, which is the reason why the scanner is not officially supported under Win 7 64 bits.

Given the facts I explained in the lines above, I can not really give you any specific information nor date for support of this scanner under Windows 7 64 bits.

We sincerely hope we can support all scanners as possible, we are the most interested in not leaving any one behind.
With our next product generation comming soon we truly hope we can provide support for the scanner in question and many more.

Thank you very much for patience and understanding.
