New M1 scanner problem with SF Ai has been fixed!

Postby John Brady » Fri Dec 28, 2007 10:45 pm

I just received silverfast ai studio with a new microtek m1 pro scanner I have purchased. Prior to this scanner I had a 1800f with silverfast se.
I am having dificulty scanning 4x5 negs with this new set up. My system is a Dell xps 600 dual core pentium with 4 gb ram and windows xp. When I try to scan t-max 100 as a 48>24 bit color at 1600 dpi or higher I am getting strange looking bars that run across the finished scan. I am using ps cs2 as the launching point for your software. Any suggestions?

Yes, I also have the new M1 scanner, and scan 4x5 negatives. At 1600 dpi I have not problem with banding, but at 3600 dpi I get a horizontal black line thru the image every time. Have you figured it out yet?

Hi Cactus,
Apparently we are not alone. I have heard from several others who are having the same problem. I can find no rhyme nor reason to the problem.
I originally experienced the problem on my pc and have since installed the scanner on a new mac pro 8 core with 8 gig of ram, and guess what I still have the problem. Microtek is sending me a new machine, but I am not sure if the hardware is the source of the problem. Wish me luck.

M1 scanner banding

Postby mboose » Fri Feb 15, 2008 12:42 am

Hi, I have recently purchased the M1 and have not had problems with any 4x5 negatives, but I have had banding on reflective scanning. At first I thought I had the dpi settings too high, but even after reducing the dpi, I still have come across some banding on my pictures. Intstead of the band being filled in with some the picture itself, mine is always white. Is this an operator error, or could it be in conjuction with the negatives banding? Thank you for any comments for me.
