Major Problems with Artixscan M1 and AI

Postby BarryS » Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:15 pm

There are some major (and apparently widespread) problems with the Microtek Artixscan M1 scanner and Silverfast AI V6.5.5 r4. At resolutions between 1600 and 2400 ppi, the scans consistently have prominent horizontal banding. It looks like a group of the first lines of pixels scanned in are overlayed over later sections of the scan. This occurs with both reflective and transparent media. Essentially, this makes the scanner and Silverfast software useless. Using Microtek's ScanWizard Pro software, I don't see problems at any resolution, so it seems likely that the problems are in the AI release.

I have sent information including scans and screenshots to Silverfast support, but have received no help at all. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of support for this product. Some example scans are shown below.

Dear SilverFast users with a Microtek M1 or F1 scanner

I am sorry to learn about the inconveniences experienced as described on this topic thread. A new release version 6.5.5r4a shall be available shortly (read: within the next 24 hours) in order to remedy the problem.
Thank you for your interest in LaserSoft Imaging's software products

Best regards
