Hi, I was doing some positive scans and both the normal and tma lamp was working fine. Then suddenly only the top lamp (the tma) turns on when i do a positive scan, and I didn't adjust anything.
I thought the bottom lamp might have went out so I tried a reflective scan, but it works fine...
Anyone know why the bottom lamp is failing to activate during positive scans, I have no idea how to fix it?
I need both the lamps activating for a good positive scan...
9800XL TMA Problem with Positive Scans

Did you ask Microtek about what this means or why this happens?
We're using the scanner via their SDK...

Hi,
I tried it in Silver Fast. The bottom lamp goes on in Positive mode, and only the top one in Transparency mode.
I tried it in ScanWizard Pro 7.2 and the bottom light goes on in Reflective mode, but only the top one in Positive or Negative mode.
I was using ScanWizard when it first happened. Upon playing around with it using ScanWizard trying to get it to work in Positive and Negative mode, I do notice both lights come on every now and then before the scan--when this happens though shortly after the bottom light clicks off and I get a "Error code -122".
I don't know, I guess I can try to email microtek, thanks though.

Walt,
Based on your description it sounds like a problem with the scanner. I have a flatbed scanner that has a transparency unit on top. When I scan transparencies only the top lamp comes on, which I believe should be the same in your case (top for transparencies and bottom for reflective scans).

Dear Walt
I have to agree with RAG in that it might be a scanner problem. At least I couldn't establish such a thing to happen with a MT 9800XL and had a colleague try it with an 8700, too - also without such an issue.
Hope Microtek can help!
