I was recently watching a video of Silverfast instruction on Lynda.com and noticed how fast the prescan seemed to go on the scanner they were using. I've got a Microtek 1000XL and it takes 1min 30sec for a prescan of the entire bed, which seems like an eternity.
I have already checked my Prescan setting in the preferences and it is set to 1x. Is there something wrong here or does my scanner just prescan very slowly?
The scan speed of a scanner depends on the scanner's hardware. This speed can vary from device to device. The setting for the prescan resolution allows to make a higher resolution prescan, so adjustments can be made with more data in the preview, without having to zoom into individual images. A higher value here will also cause the scan to take longer.
