The following page on Kodak's site indicates the RFS 3600 has been discontinued.

Does Silverfast know if that implies that driver support is also suspended? And if so, does than mean there won't be an OS X version of AI 6 for the RFS 3600? I'm sitting on a copy of AI 6 that Silverfast advertised to be OS X compatible but isn't and that I still can't use (I'm now unhappily scanning on a Windows machine with Kodak's software).

OS-X Support for Kodak RFS3600
OS-X Support for Kodak RFS3600
The SDK for this scanner is not OS-X compliant. Since we have to built on this SDK, we cannot adapt this scanner to OS-X.
It seems that Kodak has not requested the original manufacturer, which is PIE, to build an OS-X compliant SDK, since it announced to discontinue the scanner.
There is a slight chance though: Reflecta (http://www.reflecta.de), a German OEM, is now selling the RFS3600 as RPS3600 and will certainly push for an OS-X version:

Big Thumbs Down For Your Handling of OS X and RFS3600
I'm sorry, but I find your explanation that you don't have a device driver from Pacific Imaging a little bit puzzling.
In May 2002, you announced that a driver was forthcoming.
In late August 2002, you advertised and sold LS6 as compatible with OS X. On September 5, 2002, I asked about compatibility after downloading the demo. No answer. On September 10, 2002, I bought version 6.0, assuming that the problem had either been fixed, or that you had been fixing it.
Shortly after I bought the version 6 license, the claim of compatibility was withdrawn from the website. I would have *never* bought that license if you had not advertised OS X compatibility, since SF 5.0 came with my scanner.
Then about three months later, you announced that a driver was not coming due to the SDK issue (December 1, 2002).
I would have to imagine that you actually did have an SDK in August 2002. Otherwise there would be no way you could legitimately advertise a compatible product. Even if you didn't, it's not as if it's impossible to write an OS X compatible driver for a SCSI scanner from scratch. Ed Hamrick (who authored v**s**n) does it from having the hardware, so I would hope that if you had a previous version of the driver to work with, that you could make it compliant.
I cannot exaggerate how annoying it is to reboot the computer every time I would like to scan a negative or slide. Silverfast is the only program I have which still incompatible with OS X. Because SF is a holdout, I have to maintain obsolete versions of image-editing software -- and an entire operating system (OS 9.2) that I would rather jettison. Worse, it is really annoying to run a bunch of scans, then reboot to edit them in PS, and then to discover that something was really wrong with some of the scans and have to reboot again, then scan again, then reboot. Your inability to adapt this program to OS X is a huge liability.
I think that at a minimum, you a few people an apology -- and a refund. But more importantly, I think you owe it to them to finish what you promised them you would do - sell them a program that works.

KODAK RFS3600 now supported for Mac OS-X
I downloaded the new version. When I try to run it, however, I see several anomalies. One is that SF_App reports the version as E-6.0.2r34 (Serial) instead of 6.0.2d35. Perhaps related is the fact that it can't find the scanner. I'm running a PowerBook G4/667 with OS 10.2.6, and I tried connecting via both USB and an Adaptec SlimSCSI 1480 adapter with their beta OS X driver. Any ideas?
