Dear SteveB
Dear SilverFast users,

The operating system Windows XP 64 bits is not supported at the moment by SilverFast. We might consider this option in future versions of our products, however there are many variables that affect this decision. At this time we can not promisse you any working version under Windows XP 64 bits.

We present apologies to all users who might find this an inconvenient, and appreciate your understanding.

Have a nice day

Thanks Alejandro...

Is there no 'workaround'..? often (but not in this case) you can run older software by getting it to run in compatibility mode win xp for example...?

Right now I cannot use my silverfast on my new computer at all... seems a waste really... 64 bit is the way we will all go, especially imaging people....

Don't you think a 'workaround' would be a good compromise...? Easy and cheap to write and it keeps your customer base happy...?

Best.

Dear Stevebri,

Unfortunately there is no work around, in this case. What other users are doing is to make a partition and install a supported operating system like windows xp 32 bits.
Although it seems 64 bits is the way to go, windows operating systems in 64 bits are a huge source of troubles because those systems are based on the very old way of doing things from Microsoft (from the very groung up, starting with the way it handles information physically in the hard drives), in other words, those systems are not ripe (and probably will not be) and that is the reason why people is switching to other operating systems like UNIX based OS or keeping their good ols 32 bits for cases like this.

Again, we appreciate your understanding and apologize for the inconveniences

Best regards
