Silverfast SE Plus wont start

I bought SF SE plus from your site I d/l the demo with the photoshop plugin and installed it but when I click on the launcher icon the launcher box flashes up for a second then another box (black with your logo on it) comes up for a second then they both disappear when the 2nd box comes up it says at the bottom of the box "Initializing STI-Interface" then "Searching Devices" then they both disappear and thats all that happens
when I open photoshop CS go to Import then Silverfast (Epson SE) the black box comes up for a second saying Initializing & Searching then disappears along with photoshop. I have tryed uninstalling and installing about 6 times its just the same, I have uninstalled the photoshop plugin version and installed the twain version its just the same I have even tryed the Ai demo version and that does the same can you please help
I am running XP my new scanner is a Epson 4180

I have just sorted it out thanks to someone else on the epson flatbed scanners forum
It was my webcam I unpluged the webcam then silverfast launcher worked
If I plug the webcam back in the launcher won't work
I would love to know why the webcam stops it working
if anybody has any ideas
