Silverfast hangs in "Initializing scanner..."

I'm using the latest version of Silverfast Ai Studio 8 together with a Plustek Opticfilm 120. I have a big, big problem. After the last two upgrades, Silverfast starts hanging in "Initializing scanner...". Even restarting the computer and scanner doesn't solve it. I'm extremely frustrated.
I tried to uninstall Plustek and re-install it again but that did not help.
I'm using Mac with latest OS.
I have no idea what to do.

Dear Olee,

Maybe the drivers were in use when you installed.

Please delete the "Plustek****.frameworks" folders from
/Library/Frameworks

After that reinstall the latest SilverFast version from our website again.

I've tried that but it didn't solve the problem.
But after some days it just stopped and I am able to use the scanner now.
I suspect that the problem might occur if you disconnect the scanner without shutting down both the scanner and Silverfast first, but I'm not sure. I'm having problem troubleshooting since I don't know how to solve the problem if it occurs again
