Dear LaserSoft,
I just upgraded to SilverFast Ai Studio 8 (8.0.1 r54) from previous version 6.6 and see some weird behavior. When I was on PowerMac G4/OS X 10.4 and Photoshop CS3 I used my copy of SF v. 6.6 exclusively as Photoshop plug-in. I would start Photoshop, go to File -> Import -> SilverFast 6.6. This would start SilverFast, where I made necessary adjustments followed by clicking on “Scan”. Soon after, the newly scanned image would open in Photoshop and SilverFast would quit. Now, upon installing the new version 8 on MacPro/OS X 10.6.8 and Photoshop CS6 this routine changed. When in Photoshop I invoke File -> import -> SilverFast 8 x64 and something strange happens: SilverFast’s icon pops up in Dock and starts jumping like crazy! When I click on it I am presented (in Photoshop) with a splash screen offering “Welcome to SilverFast 8”, “Workflow Pilot Concept”, “SilverFast News” or I can play the movie. There is also a “Start” button which, when clicked, finally brings up SilverFast interface. I can tolerate this a couple of times but having to scan three dozen photos I’m sure this will eventually drive me nuts. Now, my question is: is this the normal “new & improved” behavior of Silverfast 8 or did I botch the installation somehow, and if so, how can I eradicate this “jumpy” behavior? I did make sure that SilverFast plug-in sits in Photoshop’s Import/Export Plug-ins folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: SIlverFast Ai Studio 8 - weird behavior after upgrade
Dear customer,
The welcome screen is where the scanner is being selected.
This is a necessary step in starting SilverFast.
In case you need to scan several images I suggest starting SilverFast stand-alone, saving to the hard drive and opening the files from Photoshop.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
