SilverFast Ai 6.4.4r3fg locks up when serialize/unlock

Dual 2.0GHz G5 with OS X 10.4.7 and the latest Software Updates. Downloaded the latest installer from LaserSoft web site. Installs ok, but when I try to unlock it there is a problem. I type in the First Name, Last Name, and Company fields, and enter the serial number. The "Unlock SilverFast" button becomes active, which I assume means it is OK with the serial number. However, when I click the "Unlock SilverFast" button, the application freezes up and I have to force quit. I've tried to do this as both root and as an administrator with no luck, same freeze. I tried it on my office machine as well with the same results. I've reinstalled several times with no luck.

Demo mode works fine. Eveything seems to work fine except the unlocking.

The older version on the CD installs and unlocks properly.

This is a problem as we are trying to get our computer labs ready for fall. We may have to just go with Epson Scan if we can't get this to work.

Further experimentation shows that the unlock function works on 10.4.5 here, but not on 10.4.7. Can somebody give me a clue as to how to move a functioning copy from a 10.4.5 machine over to a 10.4.7 machine?
