Dear LaserImaging staffs and helpers:
We bought Epson Perfection V750 PRO and installed SilverFast (SilverFast Ai) right after we setup the Epson scanner installation CD.
After the installation, we tried to launch the SF (E- 6.5.0r4e Serial) and it asked the general information.
I typed first name, last name, company, and the serial number for Perfection V750 PRO (2222C-.....-GL6J2).
However, after I click "UnlockSilverFast", I found the following message:
-If you have bought SilverFast via Internet please correct your first name and last name!
-If you have a SilverFast-CD, please put it in your CD-Rom Drive and restart SilverFast!
(SnapPhoto attached!)
HOW CAN I UNLOCK THE SILVERFAST?
DO I HAVE TO REGISTER VIA INTERNET BEFORE UNLOCKING?
(Because we got this as an inserted package of Epson scanner, we didn't buy this directly through LaserSoft Imaging.)
Please let me know the solution ASAP.
Regards,
SOK-HYONG LEE, Ph.D.

Re: SilverFast activation on iMAC OS Leopard 10.5
Dear SOK-HYONG LEE,
it seems that there maybe something blocking the Serilisation
please enable the root user on your OS X if you have not allready done this, you will find very easy way how to it in the Apple KB http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1528?viewlocale=en_US
I would also reccomend you update to the latest version of SIlverFast, this is ver important in order to have the Service Menu.
Login as Root user and install SilverFast 6.6.0r1
Now please start the "Universal Launcher" and hover over the SilverFast button but do not press it you will see a litle service buton appear next to the SilverFast button. Please press this button and choose the option to delet the serialisation file.
Afterwards try to unlock SilverFast again.

Re: SilverFast activation on iMAC OS Leopard 10.5
I have the same problem as the TS. Tried the workaround (without understanding the need for using Root just for installing scanner software) with the servicemenu to delete previous serials. But after typing in the serial code again the same error message as the topic started showed appeared on my screen. I typed my own name as the user, is that the correct way for people that got their copy of Silverfast with their scanner?

Dear dehaas,
the workaround I posted here is not the "normal" way to unlock SilverFast but in some rare cases when the permissions are so out of place that not even a repaitr permissons will help.
So if you still can not unlock SilverFast with this method you shoud contact our support staff to verify the serialnumber.

Re: SilverFast activation on iMAC OS Leopard 10.5
I am also having this problem. OSX 10.5.6.
I tried the workaround suggested of enabling root, but that didn't work.
I also downloaded and installed the latest version of silverfast and tried to register that, but the result is the same as above.. even with root still enabled.
It asks for the CD to be in the drive, the CD *IS* in the drive.

Re: SilverFast activation on iMAC OS Leopard 10.5
Dear Jkirschling,
Dear SilverFast users,
The standard procedure for product activation is:
Install your scanner driver (latest compatible version), Install the latest version of SilverFast (compatible with your operating system).
Leave the CD inserted in the computer for the product activation.
Disconnect all other imaging devices, second scanners, webcams, multipurpose printers, graphic tablets from your computer.
Restart your computer and initiate your session using an administrator's account.
connect only your scanner to the computer and turn it on, wait until the scanner is ready for working (normally it will take a few seconds while it loads the Firmware and warms up and calibrates the lamps)
Once it is ready start SilverFast and fill out all the required fields.
Press the "activate" button.
SilverFast should now be active.
If this procedure does not work, please go over to our support assistant to see if any of the entries there helps, should any of the presented entries not help you will find a support form which you can fill out, this will generate a support ticket request which will soon be attended by one of our support staff.
