I cannot get the stand alone version of Ai to run. It has been installed in its default directory, every time I launch it a dialog box pops up asking for the "plugin" choose plugin, when I select the drop down box there is nothing to select. What am I missing in order for the stand alone to function. Versiom SF App v1.1.2 OS is WXP.
Thanks
SF APP Wont run

SF APP won't run.
I try using SFAPP, and I get the same dialog box decribed below. But only the cancel button is enabled. The drop down list box only has "Choose PlugIn folder" and the other box has the directory Silverfast is installed to. How can I get SFAPP to work?

Dear Randy.
If you haven?t done it yet, please try with our newest version of SF_App from our download site. If this doesn?t help, please contact the support team through a problem report at http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html.
Best regards
Eric.

What I am / was running and some messages.
SF_App version 1.1.5
is this the demo of Silverfast SE or Silverfast Ai?
When I run this, it asks me to Choose Plugin folder which when I look there is an alias for the plugin, but no plugin. I was quite happy with this solution, and would like to get back to it.
I have tried downloading several copies from the website: SFE-6.0.1r40 (NikonM), SFE-6.0.1r27 (NikonM-SE), and in both cases when I try to install I get "This software requires 8092K of physical memory, which this system does not have. Installation cannot proceed." I have 2 gig of RAM and 120 gig of hard drive. Help.

The SF_App is a standalone applications and no plugin. Its only use is to call the SilverFast plugin wihtout the need of other appliations like PhotoShop.
The NikonM plugins will not run with the LS2000 on OSX, because these plugins are using the Nikon SDKs for Nikon scanners and this SDK doesn?t handle the LS2000 on OSX.
Please try the latest version of SilverFast for the LS2000 for OSX. The Ai can be found at https://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/193/ai6/en.html.
Best regards

Hi Eric, Thank you for your message. I also addressed this to problem support, and Martin replied. Can you add to this? I have cited your response in my reply to Martin. I was confused about what you said because on the one hand you say that SF_App is a standalone and no plugin, but then you also say that SF_App calls the SilverFast plugin. Where does it get the Silverfast plugin from? Where can I get the Silverfast plugin if mine is missing?
I eagerly await your repsonse. Regards, Steve

Dear Sir,
This unfortunately is currently a problem with the installer we are using. The installer has a problem on computers with more that 2 GB of RAM. Right now, the only solution is to remove some Ram temporarily to enable the installation. Once the program is installed, the Ram can be put back. We expect to switch to a new installer system soon.
Thank you Martin Leschke, but I have not changed the RAM in my machine since it ran well just after last install which was around the 27 or 28 of Dec. Did you change your installer since then? I received this message on the forum ?

It seems he contradicts himself but I do not think he means to. He says that SF_App is a standalone and no plugin, and then he says that SF_App calls the SilverFast plugin. Where does it get the Silverfast plugin from?
Your repsonse would be most appreciated. Regards, Steve

Dear Steve.
SF_App is an application, which can call plugins like SilverFast. It calls these plugins in the same way as PhotoShop does. The plugin is opened, used and closed much like a driver.
SilverFast is a plugin, which means a kind of extension or driver.
The application (SF_App or PhotoShop) and the plugin (SilverFast) are two different pieces of software but they have a common interface, so that the application can call the plugin.
Both the SF_App application and the SilverFast plugin can be downloaded from our WEB site. If you are using PhotoShop, you will not need SF_App, you can use PhotoShop.
I hope that helps.
Eric.

The page http://www.silverfast.com/product/Nikon/193/en.html gives you 4 different choices for downloads (but does not include SF_App as a download).
1. Silverfast demo --> http://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/193/demo/en.html
I am trying the one above now, and it downloads SFE-6.0.1r41 (Nikon). This looks to work. It instals Silverfast Ai demo version. You definitely want to relabel this one as Silverfast Ai demo because I cannot tell from the site whether it is a demo of Ai 6, Ai 5.5, or SE. Until I found out that SF_App was without plugin, I thought SF_App was a demo too. Just need a page that explains the differences.
2. SilverFast Ai version 6 update --> http://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/193/ai6/en.html
Question: Is this the one I choose if I want to buy what I am demo'ing? What will I get for the purchase price over free demo? I am happy to pay, but just want to know.
3. The Silverfast Ai update (v5.5) --> http://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/193/ai/en.html
This one does not work with OS X; choices are windows and Mac OS 9.
4. Silverfast SE --> http://www.silverfast.com/sf-download/193/ise/en.html
This one you've told me not to use because the SFE-6.0.1r27 (NikonM-SE) will not work with LS-2000 and OS X.
Again, definitely trying to solve my problem and add a little value along the way. Thanks. Steve
