SF Ai 6 won't serialize / 4990 / Mac OS 10.3.9

Just unpacked a new Epson 4990 Pro and neither the included version of SF or the latest download update will serialize. I enter my name, and the serial # (registration said it was valid), and it just hangs with the SPOD. This is on a DP 2GHz G5.

Any help?
