Serial number

Postby Barbara Nevins » Mon Sep 30, 2002 9:40 pm

I'm using Photoshop 6 with an old version of Silverfast (3.3.7) which shipped with our Epson 636 scanner. Everything was fine until our IT guys upgraded me from Mac OS9.1 to 9.2. Something happened in this process and I had to reload the Epson software and Silverfast. The registration window comes up everytime I go to Import/Silverfast and I have to put in the serial number. I had this same problem in the past when reloading Silverfast but I don't remember what I had to do to get the serial number to take. Any suggestions.

SilverFast Ai 3 and Mac OS 9.2

Sorry, but SilverFast 3 cannot run properly with Mac OS 9.2. There have been numerous upgrades and it is highly recommended to upgrade to SilverFast 6, which has lots of enhancements for your scanner!

I've downgraded to Mac OS9.1 and still have the problem with needing to put the serial number in everytime I do a scan. I'm working on getting the new version of Silverfast is there a work around until I can get it in the IT budget?

Barbara.

Earlier versions of SilverFast (v3 and v4) saved the preferences in the plugin file itself. This was no problem with PhotoShop versions before v6. PhotoShop v6 opens the plugins in write protected mode, which made it impossible to save the serial number in the plugin file. Newer versions of SilverFast are using preference files of this reason.

The only workaround, that I can think of right now is to use an earlier version of PhotoShop or another host application.

Eric.
