ScanMaker 6100, drivers installation problem

Postby Roba » Sat Jul 01, 2006 1:40 pm

Hello.
I have a problem with installation of driver for scanner ScanMaker 6100.
I've changed my motherboard and was going to uninstall/install ScanWizard 5.
I did it with unplugged USB cabel of scanner.
After reboot of Windows I pluged-in the USB cabel and swhiched on a scanner.
The system said that the device Scan 3200 was found , but MSME5w.dll was not found and asked to point to place where it is.
Device "Scan 3200" was appeared under node "Unknown device" in the device manager window, but ScanWizard does not see it.
I did this action (uninstall/install of ScanWizard) a few times and cleaned the registry from keys contained "Microtek" and "Scan 3200".
The result was the same.

Please help me to solve this problem.

Dear Roba

for problems with Microtek's own scanning software "Scanwizard", please don't hesitate to contact Microtek's support staff.
Thank you in anticipation of your kind co-operation.

Best regards

Hi.
Yes, I did.
But they are keeping silent.

Sorry if it is not a place here.

Best regards
Robert.

Dear Robert

perhaps a driver update to the latest version will help.
Good luck!

Hi.
Yes, I did it.
In this installation is absent one DLL which I take from disk during installation.
But unfortunately it does not help too.

Thanks,
Robert.

Make sure you clean out any files in \twunk , \twain , \twain32 that relate to that scanner as well as the registry. This madness is why i switched to Silverfast back at SF version 3 ! i would suggest the same to you.

Hi.
I did it too, but maybe not \twunk. I'll check it.

My purpose is not an upgrading of soft.
I just want to restore my environment on the upgraded hard.

Thank You for your understanding.
Best regards.
Robert.

If you just swapped out motherboards, then i would suggest wiping the hard disk clean and starting over. The registry can get confused with the different motherboard drivers.

I wanted to avoid of reinstallation Windows.
This that I was forced to do when I installed this scanner a first time.
I till now have the option to restore a system from GHOST-image and to reinstall all of changed devices for a new motherboard.
Evidently it will be my next step. Simply a GHOST-image was done one month ago.

Thanks,
Robert.
