I have been using Silverfast Ai 6 with my Nikon LS4000ED, Photoshop 6 and Win98SE happily for about a year. The other morning Silverfast asked for my serial number when opened, I entered it and it was accepted, but from then on when scan was started, Silverfast would only focus and set exposure, it would not perform the actual scan.
I then did a repair install using the Silverfast installer in "add/remove programs". Again the request for a serial number which was accepted, Silverfast would now initiate scanning, but the resulting file had a silverfast logo over it, as though in demo mode.
I then uninstall silverfast, it is removed from the add/remove program list, but the plugin is still there in Photoshop and it functions (in demo mode).
I then reinstall Silverfast, same "demo mode although serial number accepted" problem.
At the moment my scanner is useless because of this annoying Silverfast malfunction. Has anyone seen this problem before, or can anyone suggest a cure?
Reserialiation - total failure.

Dear Panosphere.
Thanks for sending the SF_logfile.
I can see that you are using an older version 6.0.2r33. Please download the most actual Release 6.1.0r7 from our website. There are a lot of issues solved in the newe releases I recommend to do a regular update through the webupate Screenshot.
Make sure to make a clean deinstall before updating. On windows this is done best through the "Software tool" in the "System preferences and manually deleting the Plugin and the SilverFast folder (which contains some preferences that might falsify the reinstall) Picture
. Don?t worry it will be rebuild the next time you start the app.
After that install the latest SilverFast without the other scanners being turned and let meknow the results.
Kind regards.

I did as you suggested, Silverfast does not appear in Add/Remove Programs and I deleted the silverfast Nikon .8ba file and the Silverfast directory from import/export directory in Photoshop. but when I tried to install the new Silverrfast version I got this error message
